Step 1 — Unbox Your Device
Check that your Ledger package is untampered. It should include:
- Ledger hardware wallet
- USB cable
- Recovery sheet
- Quick start guide and stickers
Purchase only from official channels to avoid counterfeit devices.
Step 2 — Download Ledger Live
Ledger Live is the official application to manage your hardware wallet and cryptocurrencies:
- Visit Ledger.com/start.
- Download Ledger Live for your operating system.
- Install and open Ledger Live.
- Complete the onboarding guide to start managing your assets.
Step 3 — Initialize Your Device
- Connect your Ledger device via USB (Nano X supports Bluetooth).
- Select "Set up as new device" on the screen.
- Create a strong PIN code on the device.
- Write down the 24-word recovery phrase and store it securely offline.
Important: Never share your recovery phrase. Ledger never requests it online or via support.
Step 4 — Install Cryptocurrency Apps
Install apps for each cryptocurrency you want to manage:
- Open Ledger Live and navigate to Manager.
- Connect your device.
- Select apps to install and click "Install".
Once installed, create accounts for each asset within Ledger Live.
Step 5 — Managing Assets Securely
- All transactions require confirmation on the device.
- Private keys never leave the device.
- Protects against malware and phishing attempts.
Step 6 — Ledger Nano X Mobile Connectivity
- Enable Bluetooth on Nano X and your mobile device.

- Device not detected? Try another USB port or cable.
- App installation fails? Ensure Ledger Live and firmware are updated.
- Forgot PIN? Restore with recovery phrase on a new device.
- Lost recovery phrase? Funds cannot be recovered; always backup securely.
